To Parents

Many parents wonder how to teach their children all the things that have taken them so long to learn. OrbQuest has come up with a novel idea, simulate the life learning we all do in a computer program that allows the student to learn and make mistakes without damaging their future.
OrbQuest has aquired the rights to the first in a series. The first program takes the student through five years after graduation. They are introduced to what we all went through, first car, first job, and first apartment. They are then introduced to the joys of roommates, taxes and job lose. They get a sweetheart, get married and have kids. They buy cars and houses. And they learn by experience! They learn how to make the money stretch. They learn how to budget. They learn from mistakes that we all made and are still paying for.

Financial $uccess 101

Our intention is to help you, the student, learn how money is made and control how you spend it. By showing you how life really is we hope you will develop good spending habits that will last you a lifetime.

This course is designed to represent the five years after you graduate. You will be required to complete an encounter each day, five days a week for 14 weeks. The time required is minimal but we suggest that you take the time to visit the links to outside sources to learn as much as possible about new subjects.

We have tried to make each encounter is as close to real life as possible. You will fill in a few questions about yourself and then be sent out into the world. The more you put into this course, and the more honest you are, the more you will learn and grow. The point is not to see who can come out richer, but who can control their spending and be able to retire and not have to work after 65.

Course Outline

Personal Infomation:
This is a little about you, Are you male or female? Do you plan on going to college? What line of work are you planning on getting into?

Banking:
Learn what a bank does for you. Checking and savings accounts plus loans and other services.

Insurance:
What is it and why do I need it? Is it worth it?

Real Property:
Here we will learn about buying homes and cars, maybe even a boat.

Marriage:
It happens to the best of us. We will try to show you how marriage can influence your purchasing decisions.

Children:
Yes this happens in life also. We will show you again how life changes influence your finances.

Investments/ Stocks/ 401K:
Here you will learn how to invest in your future. You will be able to invest in stocks and mutual funds plus 401Ks. You will also look into owning your own business.

Educators

This program is designed for ease of use by the educator. There are no books to purchase or training to go through. Financial $uccess 101 was designed to use the books you already are using. We feel you already are using and teaching this material, just not in this context. We help the students understand why they are being taught the things you are teaching.
